Aside from the Obvious Plot Holes, overall the story was very flat, and the main Characters of the film Sammy (Lupita Nyong’o) and Eric (Joseph Quinn) both feel like the story could have gone on without them, that’s truly how little meaning they have to the entire plot of the film. The angles and lighting in which multiple scenes are filmed leave you trying to figure out exactly where the characters are, what's going on, and where they are even going. Multiple scenes throughout the film feel forced or just boring, I get that being quiet is what's needed to survive, but there are multiple scenes in which the characters are just staring at each other. I feel like I could rant about this movie for a while, so to sum up this review, I feel like A Quiet Place Day One was a giant waste of time, from the plot holes to a bad script to just awful camera work and shots, it failed to live up to any kind of hype that you would have expected from a Prequel to the Quiet Place Series.
